           In House Laboratory

                           The staff here is always learning the up to date technology on in house laboratory procedures. We offer many tests "in house" now where you receive results within the hour. Before that, tests would have to be sent out and take days to help find the problem in your pet.

                       Some blood work we perform "in house" are:  Comprehensive blood profiles Complete blood counts, electorlytes, Feline leukemia/aids/heartworm test, Canine and feline heartworm testing, T-4, Canine pregnancy testing,  Blood glucose checks (for diabetics) Coagulation profiles ( for clotting disorders), calcium level testing for Iguanas, Blood cytology/morphology (examines the cells for abnormalities), 4dx testing for dogs, Hw, lyme, ehrlichia, anaplasmosis.),  and cortisol function tests.

                          We also perform in house urinalysis. This can evaluate many things. For example this can tell us if your pet may be diabetic, having kidney issues or if their is a urinary tract infection going on. Up to date fecal analysis are also performed here.(direct and floatation techniques)  We can see if your pet has any internal parasites from roundworms to giardia. We also do fecal exams on exotic pets such as Avians, reptiles, and pocket pets. We will always provide you with an estimate if any work-up is recommended.

This is the Catalyst from Idexx.  This machine does the chemistry portion of the blood work checking organ function.

From left to right: Vetstat machine, lasercyte and vettest machine.  We run: cbc profiles on the lasercyte,  electrolytes and blood gases on the vetstat, and chemistries on the vettest.  We also have the "snapshot".  This machine runs cortisols, bileacids, and T-4s. This saves alot of time because we get the results that same day as opposed to waiting 2 days for the lab to get back to us.  We do send out bloodwork to Idexx as well.  These are tests that we cannot perform in house, such as- biopsies, fluid analysis, Phenobarbitol levels, Bromide levels, lyme c6 quantative, and Thyroid Profiles among others.
